You can really liven up a room with wall art but you have to balance the pieces you hang on your wall. Other things in the room can affect the balance in a room such as other kinds of wall decor, furniture, and accent pieces.
There is also the negative space to consider. Negative space is the part of the wall that does not contain any decor. Having enough empty spaces also helps to create balance. If you have more than one wall art, you have to hang them symmetrically.
If you are going to group your wall decor then you also have to make sure your pieces match and do not clash with each other. One of the things you have to make sure of is that the colors match. Then your themes also have to go well together.
If you are hanging let’s say 4 pieces of wall art next to each other, you could hang them 3 to 4 inches apart. If the wall looks to crowded or if your wall space is not enough, then you should limit the canvas pieces to 2 or 3 instead of 4.
You can also group your wall all in an asymmetrical arrangement. This kind of arrangement can look interesting. Play around with your wall decor by hanging frames or wall decor of different sizes. Here is when trying to create balance becomes tricky.
You can test how your wall art will look by placing them all together on the floor. Place them in the same positions that you plan to hang them. See if the pieces look good together. You can try to move the pieces around to see which arrangement looks best.
