Decorating your home with African canvas and safari art is a unique way of making your home look more interesting. It shows your adventurous side…even maybe a wild side.
African decor takes it cues from many cultures that make up the huge African continent. To produce the effect of a safari theme, you can use African canvas wall art, ethnic decor pieces and safari colors all over your room.
Choose the following colors for your room that are often seen in a jungle or safari scene: Brown, black, cream, burn orange, and touches of green and blue. Use colors seen in nature, open fields, a jungle or in an African tribe.
For decor pieces and furniture, use the ones made with natural materials like a bamboo or wooden bench and rugs made of straw. Use leopard and zebra prints for couch upholstery, floor rugs, throw pillows, and tapestries.
Hang some African canvas wall art and tribal masks. Get a couple of dark wooden sculptures to place on console tables or shelves. If you can manage to get them, hang some hand crafted tribal hunting tools and weapons on your walls.
Mud cloth, also known as Bogolan or Bogolanfini, are hand-made Malian cotton fabric that is traditionally dyed with fermented mud in Africa. It is used as a wall decor or is draped over a couch in western countries especially in the U.S. Some even use it as upholstery.
Decorate with African soapstone sculptures and figurines like giraffes, zebras, elephants, and lions. You can also have these animals painted on canvas wall art. Place a woven basket in some corners or use them over to decorate potted plants.
